Beautiful Hawaiian artwork adorns the walls, while the natural beauty provides spectacular views from almost every room. The master bedroom looks out over the pool and jacuzzi to an unobstructed, 180-degree, ocean view with access to two lanais or decks. This is one of the premier, whale-watching locations on Kauai and seeing their spouts is an almost daily occurrence during winter months. Dolphins and turtles are also regular visitors to this coastline and even the rare, Hawaiian, monk seal has been spotted playing in the water below. Albatross nest annually and soar overhead in winter time. Shearwater's nest in the cliff and Brazilian cardinals look out for crumbs daily!
Photos cannot possibly do this property justice - it has to be seen to be believed! Repeat customers are our mainstay... why not become one of them!
We stayed at Hale Makana with another family (total of 10 people) for 10 nights. The location is great. It is only about 5 minutes from the grocery store, gas, and a few restaurants--all in the same parking lot--in Princeville. It's also only about 10 minutes from Hanalei, which has plenty of restaurants, shops, churches, and activities (including kayaking, hiking, and the beach at Hanalei Bay). The view from the backyard is amazing--Mt. Makana, Queen's Bath, the endless Pacific Ocean, and sunsets. The trail to Queen's Bath is also very close (just a short walk) to this house. The house also had plenty of room for our group of 10 to hang out, visit, play games, and eat meals together.
We could not have asked for a more perfect property for our family vacation. We had 6 adults and 2 small children and had space to spare. Just walking through the gate on the first afternoon and seeing the view is something I'll always remember. The view of the Pacific from the pool area provides quite a backdrop for fun, photos, and relaxing. The house really is incredible. This is the first VRBO rental where we did not have to worry about the small things such as coffee filters, paper towels, condiments, etc., plus it was well stocked with games, puzzles and books. And Mary is such a pleasure to work with both in advance of our visit and during our stay. The views, the space, and the comfort make this property a must-see if you plan to visit Kauai.
